He graduated from the American University of Beirut, specializing in orthopedic and joint surgery , and joined the Robert Jones and Agnus Hunt Hospital for Orthopedics in the United Kingdom.
Dr. Moucharafieh joined the Department of Surgery at the American University of Beirut in 1991 as an Assistant Professor of Orthopedics , Hand Surgery and Microsurgery , and was later appointed Associate Professor in 1997. In 2005 , he was appointed as a Professor in the Department of Orthopedics at the University of Balamand and Clemenceau Medical Center of Johns Hopkins International .
Prof. Musharrafiyeh served as Head of the Department of Orthopedics (1993-1999) and Director of the Emergency Unit at the American University Medical Center (1992-2000).
He is the President of the Lebanese Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery and President of the Lebanese Society of Orthopedics and Joints.
Founding member of the American Academy of Emergency Physicians and member and liaison to the Association for the Advancement of International Emergency Medical Care.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons , a member of the British Orthopedic Association , a member of the British Society for Surgery of the Hand and the British Society for Microsurgery.
Author of more than 75 publications in scientific journals , he is a regular speaker at international conferences , and a frequent contributor to continuing medical education for local and regional physicians.
